How
do I hook up Cable TV and my VCR?
It's easy. But first, a few
words of caution:
Additional equipment such as jumpers,
splitters and switches may distort your
picture if it does not meet Vidia
Communication standards. Please consult
one of our technicians before purchasing
additional equipment.
Please do not cut cable jumpers, as this
can easily cause picture distortion
All connections must be "wrench
tight."
Installing your VCR:
The cable drop connects to the
"In" terminal on the
converter.
A jumper cable is run from the converter
"Out" terminal to the
"In" terminal on your VCR.
A second jumper cable is run from the
"Out" terminal of your VCR to
the back of your TV set.
The cable is attached to the 75-Ohm
input terminal (on cable-ready TVs), or
a "matching transformer" is
installed on the end of the cable, and
the cable is attached to the VHF aerial
terminals.
If you are unsure about any of these
procedures, it is best to contact an
Vidia Communication installation
professional.
What
is theft of service?
Any unauthorized person who
intercepts or receives communications
provided over a cable system may be
penalized under the federal Cable Act.
This includes the theft of audio, video,
textual data and any other service. The
law applies to manufacturers and
distributors of equipment as well as to
individuals.
Parties found guilty of cable theft are
subject to both civil and criminal
penalties. In addition, if the
violations are willful and create
financial gain or commercial advantage,
the guilty party can receive fines of up
to $100,000 and up to five years in
prison.
Vidia Communications takes cable theft
seriously, because when people receive
cable services without paying, it's our
honest customers who have to foot the
bill.
My
TV displays nothing but snow. What
gives?
Make sure your TV is on
channel 3 or 4, and tighten all cable
connections. If you continue to have
problems, call Vidia Communications
Customer Service, and we'll be happy to
help you get to the bottom of the
problem.
My
reception is snowy, or I am getting a
hissing sound. Help!
Make sure your TV is on
channel 3 or 4. Verify that the
Cable/VCR switch on your TV is set on
"Cable." Tighten all cable
connections, and if you continue to have
problems, give Vidia Communications
Customer Service a call.
Why
am I seeing multiple/ghosted images on
my TV?
Hand-tighten all connections,
and verify that there is not an antenna
hooked up to the VHF terminals on the
back of your TV.
How
do I solve common picture problems?
Here are a few tips to try
before scheduling a costly television
repair.
Verify that your TV is on the right
output channel (i.e., 2, 3 or 4).
To fix a rolling picture, adjust the
"vertical hold" on your TV.
If your picture leans to the side,
adjust the "horizontal hold"
on your TV.
If your screen appears snowy, verify
that the converter is plugged into a
working outlet.
If you have no picture or sound, verify
that the electrical outlet is working.
Push your TV's "Reset" button,
if applicable, or adjust the
"brightness" control on your
TV.
If your picture shrinks, your TV may
have an overloaded circuit, or the
problem may be caused by your electric
company.
What
if I move?
Before you move, call Vidia
Communications and let us know where you
are moving. If you are moving within our
service area, we will be happy to
transfer your current service to your
new residence so that you can continue
enjoying Vidia Communications Cable
Television in your new home.
If you are moving outside of the Vidia
Communications service area, you will be
required to return your equipment. To
avoid penalty, all equipment such as
cable boxes, converters and remote
controls must be returned to us in good
working order.
How
does Vidia Cable Television compare to
satellite?
Vidia Communications Cable
offers many advantages over satellite
TV:
There is no risk of purchasing equipment
that soon becomes obsolete. There
is no ugly satellite dish hanging from
your house. You get local
broadcast channels. You can watch
different programming on each different
TV in your house at the same time - and
without having to purchase additional
equipment. Heavy Oklahoma rain,
wind or snow doesn't affect your
reception.
